Resource-efficient anaerobic technology improves carbon footprint and saves costs
The Biomar® AHPx anaerobic wastewater treatment plant for an apple juice manufacturer extracts biogas for the site’s own combined heat and power plant, thereby lowering its primary energy consumption, particularly during the busiest season of the year. As a result, this improves the carbon footprint while at the same time optimising the resources used for wastewater cleaning.
The highly compact plant requires a very small total floor area, and generates far more energy than it consumes. Moreover, the anaerobic wastewater treatment system produces much less excess sludge than was previously the case in purely aerobic operation – and therefore significantly lowers disposal costs.
